Five tower placement mistakes that cost me runs
I've lost more tower defence runs to bad habits than to genuinely hard waves. Most of my mistakes came down to placing for the map I could see rather than the map two waves ahead.
The biggest one: clustering towers. It feels powerful to stack everything at a chokepoint, but a single splash-resistant enemy walks straight through. Spreading coverage saved more runs than any single upgrade.
I also used to over-invest in damage and ignore slow and crowd-control towers. A good slow doubles the effective damage of everything behind it. Numbers on the tower don't tell the whole story.
Another habit was upgrading too early. Holding a bit of budget for the moment a wave surprises you is almost always better than committing it the second you have it.
None of this is clever, but noticing it took me a surprisingly long time. Watch where your leaks happen, not where your towers are.
