Ember Crown Saga

Ember Crown Saga is a proper turn-based RPG squeezed onto a phone without losing its teeth. You build a party of four, juggle elemental weaknesses, and plan two or three turns ahead against bosses that punish lazy play. It's the kind of game where a single wrong move can unravel a ten-minute fight.

The writing surprised me. Side characters have small arcs that pay off hours later, and the world map rewards poking around. Combat stays snappy because animations can be sped up, which matters a lot on a device you're holding in one hand.

My only gripe is the early grind for materials, but once your party clicks around hour five, it opens right up.
